Former Lake Travis WR Saves Jets Season

To the joy of many fantasy football managers, New York Jets receiver had himself a game on Thursday night.

He may have also saved his team’s season.

With the Jets’ playoff aspirations on the line, Wilson made the kind of catch fans will usually see in Madden, yanking the ball out of the air with a one-handed catch on the left sideline. The grab was so good, that many are saying it’s the best since Odell Beckham Jr.’s legendary catch in 2014.

At the time, Wilson was 14, and was watching the game on his living room couch in Austin. In an almost Michael Jordan silhouette pose, Wilson grabbed the ball on third-and-19, with his team trailing 10-7 in the fourth quarter.

Wilson’s touchdown, coupled with another one-handed score he hauled in on the first drive of the second half, injected a bit of life into his team’s losing season. At the end of regulation, New York broke its five-game losing streak, defeating the Houston Texans 21-13.

Wilson finished the night with 90 yards and two touchdowns, accounting for roughly 30 points for PPR fantasy leagues.

Although he was born in Chicago, Wilson moved to the Lone Star State when he was 11. With Lake Travis, Wilson would break multiple school wide receiver records, including total career receptions (204), total yards (3,359), and total touchdowns (55). He would win the 6A state championship with quarterback Charlie Brewer in 2016.
