It appears Kirk Martin is set to return home.
According to a tweet from Colleyville Heritage football booster club, Martin, who spent 10 years as Manvel’s head coach, will be named the program’s new head coach during Monday evening’s school board meeting.
Martin spent the previous two seasons as Syracuse’s quarterbacks coach before recently transitioning to a role on the program’s support staff as a senior analyst.
During his time at Manvel, he amassed a record of 108-25, winning at least 11 games eight times, including in 2011 and 2017, when the Mavericks reached the state title game.
Martin also spent two years at Alpine, going 7-14.
The Panthers are coming off a 9-5 season, reaching the Class 5A, Division I state quarterfinals before falling to Denton Ryan 56-10.
Former head coach Joe Willis left the program after five years on Jan. 30 to accept the same position at Tyler Lee.
