Former NFL Lineman and Cedar Park Graduate Will Start Legacy Ranch Athletics
Time and time again, we’ve seen the best Texas high school football coaches are the ones who actually played under the Friday night lights. On Monday, the Liberty Hill Independent School District Board of Trustees approved Tim Knicky as both head football coach and new athletic coordinator for Legacy Ranch. Fortunately, he knows a thing or two about our Lone Star State competition.
Coach Knicky was born in Cedar Park and attended high school there. Competing as defensive end, he 6’4” and 245 pounds as a senior. Later, he graduated from nearby Stephen F. Austin University. After a brief stint in the NFL—competing for the Green Bay Packers and the New York Jets— he cut his teeth working as special teams and defensive line coach at Georgetown. What followed were various coordinating and coaching roles for a glut of sports, at both Willis and his alma mater Cedar Park, from 2017 to 2022.
In a press release from LHISD, Knicky said: “I have dedicated my life to football, and to have the chance to be the first head football coach here (at LHISD) is the highest honor of my career. We are going to be a tough, well-coached football team that this community is proud to call their own.”
The Wranglers will field their inaugural season this fall. Coach Knicky will also open numerous athletic programs at the school throughout the next school year.
