Former Pine Tree Standout Committed to Texas State After One Year of Playing JUCO Football

For Mason Hays, it was a dream and a matter that he took into his own hands.

On Friday, it paid off in a big way.

After spending a season at Trinity Valley Community College, the Pine Tree standout saw his dream become a reality when he was extended an offer and committed to continue his football career at Texas State.

“It’s a moment of a lifetime,” said Hays, travelling back to Longview from Texas State. “It’s something you dream about. It’s something you talk about your whole life.

“It’s finally here, it finally happened.”

A three-sport standout at Pine Tree, Hays made the decision to go the junior college route out of high school, choosing the perennial power Cardinals to begin his collegiate football career.
