Fort Bend Travis Key Players and Storylines

Despite an 8-3 season, Travis entered the offseason looking for a new head coach after Trey Sissom retired. In his place, Travis nabbed Jasper head coach Kendrick Crumedy to take over the Tiger program.

Crumedy led Jasper to the playoffs in three of his four seasons in charge. He’ll have no doubt who is leading the Tiger offense this year. 6’4″ quarterback Trace Baker (1,213 passing yards and 19 touchdowns) has a cannon to take the top off of defenses. Expect North Texas commit receiver Ethan Williams (633 receiving yards and eight touchdowns) to be his go-to target after a productive 2025 season. Up front, 6’2″, 285-pound offensive lineman Colton McQueen will be the Tigers’ anchor in the middle of the trenches after earning second team all-district honors last year.

Defensively, the Tigers are going to be a handful in the trenches. Defensive end Trace Holster (35 tackles, 19 TFLs) transfers in from Fort Bend Christian Academy and will be a menace off the edge along with UTEP commit Josh Ochelli (16 TFLs, 10 sacks). In between them, opposing offensive lines will also have to handle 6’1″, 285-pound defensive tackle Promise Eche.

On the back end, Kansas State commit defensive back Joshua Vilmael (2 INTs, four FFs) is a do-it-all player in the secondary.

Despite last year’s runner-up finish in district, Travis still hasn’t won a playoff game since 2014. With impact players returning on both sides of the ball, ending that drought will be one of the Tigers’ goals this fall.
