Frisco Wakeland continued their dominant ways Friday night, with an impressive 49-13 over The Colony in front of a huge homecoming crowd at the Ford Center in Frisco.

The Wolverines Played Lights Out

The Wolverines set the tone early defensively.  After a roughing the punter penalty extended a drive for The Colony, the Wolverine defense forced a fumble on Cougar running back Camden Wesley.

The Wolverine offense took over and put together an impressive 79-yard drive that culminated in a Jared White touchdown run.

Wolverine quarterback Brennan Myer took control for the remainder of the first half, throwing touchdown passes to Ashdyn Kahouch, Michael Flanagan, and Cody Johnson.

For the third week in a row, the Wolverines went to halftime with a very comfortable lead, this time 28-0.  Wakeland outgained the Cougars 281 to 79 in the first half.

The Wolverines used their running game in the third quarter to wear down The Colony’s defense.  White had two rushing touchdowns, and Noah Mangum had another touchdown on an end-around.

Mangum’s touchdown was impressive, as he appeared to be down around the Cougar 25, but literally rolled on top of a defender, his knee never touching the ground, and he popped up to finish the run.

Balanced Offensive Gameplan

The Wolverines showed what a balanced offensive attack they have, as they ran for 247 yards and threw for 232.  Myer finished with a nice night, completing 13-15 for 227 yards and three touchdowns.  Meanwhile, White continued his impressive season.

The senior running back now has 495 yards rushing and 9 touchdowns in 3 games.  He’s averaging almost 10 yards per rush.

The Colony was able to move the ball a little in the second half. Running back Wesley scored twice and had 107 yards rushing.

The Wolverines improved to 2-0 in the district, and Thursday they will have their biggest test of the season as they travel to Denton to take on Denton Ryan.

The Raiders are also 2-0 in the district, coming off a beatdown of Denton High. The game will have huge implications for how the district will shake out going forward. Expect a good, competitive game.
