Frisco Wakeland Rolls To An Easy Win In First District Game
The first district game for Frisco Wakeland turned into an offensive explosion, as the Wolverines cruised to a 56-2 victory over Frisco Centennial Thursday night at the Ford Center in Frisco.
Wakeland Scored Early and Often
It was the second consecutive game in which Wakeland scored 50+ points.
Wakeland Running back Jared White scored three touchdowns on the ground, and quarterback Brennan Myer threw three touchdowns to three different receivers.
Centennial looked like they got a stop early in the first quarter. Wakeland faced 4th and 1 at their own 42-yard line. White busted through the line and was gone for a 58-yard touchdown. After a defensive stop by Wakeland, the Wolverines struck again, this time a 64-yard touchdown pass from Myer to Ashdyn Kahouch.
The drive was even more impressive by the fact that they started at their own four-yard line.
The Wolverines scored three more times in the first half. This included an incredible one-handed catch by tight end Tripp Riordan for a 10-yard touchdown. The Wolverines went into halftime up 32-0.
More Domination in 2nd Half
The second half was more of the same. The Wolverines pinned the Titans deep in their own territory on the opening kickoff, and this resulted in a safety from a charge led by linebacker Alex Shirley.
The Wolverines then quickly scored on their next possession as Myer hit Noah Mangum on a 35-yard touchdown to put the score at 41-0.
In the fourth quarter, the Wolverines Gus England picked off a pass and took it 60 yards to paydirt. On the ensuing extra point, Centennial recovered a bobbled snap, and Titan defender Michael Price ran it back all the way for their only two points of the game.
Lights Out Defense
White finished with 123 yards. He now has 6 touchdowns on the season. The Wolverine defense played lights out, only allowing 95 total yards and 5 first downs. Since giving up a touchdown in the opening possession against Pearce, the Wakeland defense hasn’t allowed a touchdown since.
Wakeland (2-0, 1-0), continues district play next week with a homecoming game against The Colony. Centennial will regroup next week with a bye week.
