Wakeland Key Players and Storylines

It’s a program with a strong pipeline. 42 players have gone on to play college football since 2020 with 20 of them signing to the Division I level. They’ll need to find that talent from the next crop of players with just six returning starters this fall.
The Wolverines will need to lean on the run game early after graduating a 3,000-yard passer. The good news is Braxton Cole (1,175 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns) has what it takes to be a workhorse back after earning third team all-state honors in 2025.
He’ll have some size in front of him with 6’4”, 207-pound tight end Tyler Daugherty, 6’3”, 293-pound offensive lineman Maddox Burden, and 6’4”, 264-pound offensive lineman Aaden Neimeyer.
Had a great season this year. Made history with my family and couldn’t have wanted to do it with anyone else. Here’s my full junior season highlights 2025-2026. @coachjwhoward @coach_isom60 @JLottScout @WakelandFTball

Senior quarterback Ausdyn Kahoun appears to be next in line behind center, although he attempted just nine passes last year.
Defensively, middle linebacker Dallas Preston (91 tackles, 10 TFLs) is exactly the leader you need at the heart of an inexperienced defense. He’ll start alongside junior linebacker Ryder Flock (17 tackles), while defensive ends Marcelo Manzur (23 tackles, one sack) and Ed Selig (41 tackles, 10.5 TFLs) will look to form a strong pass rushing tandem.
Wakeland has made the playoffs in each of the past 13 seasons, but the Wolverines know this will be the toughest test in their 21-year program history. They’ll need to lean on that winning culture as they push to make a playoff berth in their inaugural 6A season.
