The votes are in ladies and gentlemen and your pick for our Game of the Week for week two will be Lake Travis vs. Cibolo Steele.

The Lake Travis Cavaliers look to rebound from last week’s loss against Converse Judson after surrendering three unanswered touchdowns in the 4th quarter to lose 35-28. Cibolo Steele hopes to build off their win against San Antonio Martin where the Knights beat them handily 37-7.

The latest TexasHSFootball.com rankings has Cibolo Steele ranked at No. 8 and Lake Travis ranked at No. 9 in the 6A rankings. The No. 9 ranking is a drop from No. 6 held last week for Lake Travis while Cibolo Steele jumped from 13.

Cibolo Steele after last week is now 116-23 heading into its 11th season with a 5A Division II state title in 2010, a D-II final appearance in 2011, and advancements to the state semifinals in 2012, 2014 and 2015. A team that went 14-1 last season only lost three starters from that defense, and is led by defensive tackle Joshua Croslen. On offense quarterback and Texas Tech commit Xavier Martin will look to down last year’s state runner up.

Lake Travis who has 15 starters returned from last year wants to put their name in the win column this week. Offensively the Cavaliers will be led by the trio of quarterback Charlie Brewer, a SMU commit, wide receiver and Wisconsin commit Cade Green as well as tight end and fellow SMU commit with his brother, Cade Brewer. Northwestern commit Austin Hiller will also provide problems in the secondary on Lake Travis’ defensive side.

Both teams are looking to make another deep playoff run and this matchup is sure to be a great one as two top ten teams will battle it out. It’s interesting to note that both teams had their seasons end at the hand of the Katy Tigers on their way to a state title.
