Gary Recoder Named Head Coach at El Paso Bel Air
Ysleta ISD has announced hiring Gary Recoder as the next head football coach at El Paso Bel Air High School. Recoder replaces Eric Scogin, who recently left Bel Air to become the offensive coordinator at El Paso Parkland High School.
Recoder had an impressive tenure at Riverside, finishing with a 37-15 record over five seasons. Under his leadership, Riverside achieved significant success, including three district titles and multiple playoff appearances. His impact on the program was transformative.
He now aims to bring his winning formula to Bel Air, which is coming off consecutive 8-3 seasons. The Highlanders have undergone a remarkable turnaround in the past two years. They went 0-10 in 2018 and managed just 2 wins in 2021 before Eric Scogin revitalized the program. As the team enters a new district and faces the challenge of graduating key seniors, Recoder’s experience could prove crucial.
Bel Air High School eagerly anticipates Recoder’s arrival and the expertise he brings. His previous success suggests a promising future for Bel Air’s football program. The community looks forward to continued growth and achievement under his guidance.
