Gordon and Strawn rarely need much help making their rivalry feel important. Friday night gave the Battle of Palo Pinto Creek another good chapter.
The Longhorns went into Greyhound Stadium and came away with a 46-28 win, staying perfect at 3-0 while handing Strawn its first loss of the season. The Greyhounds fall to 2-1.
Unlike several recent meetings between these two, Strawn made Gordon work for it. The Greyhounds kept the game going all four quarters and stayed within striking distance against a Longhorns program that has made ending games early pretty routine in six-man football.
Still, Gordon eventually created enough separation to secure its fifth straight win over Strawn and extend its overall winning streak to 47 games.
Next up, Gordon hosts Bluff Dale, while Strawn travels west to face El Paso Leadership Academy East.
