Grandview Looks To Continue Undefeated Season In Rivalry Matchup

GRANDVIEW — Friday, the Grandview Zebras will roll into Maypearl to take on the Panthers at W.G. Roesler Field.  The matchup will feature two of the top three teams in District 6-3A.

Both communities always have this game circled as soon as the schedule is released, as the rivalry has been in place since the 90s. However, Friday’s game will have more than the usual implications on the District 6-3A standings.

Grandview sits atop the district standings with a 7-0 overall record, as they have managed to slice through the district so far. Kemp owns the No. 2 slot, with its only loss of the season coming from Grandview earlier in the month. The October 13 loss leaves the Yellow Jackets at 6-1 overall and 3-1 in district play. Then, in third place, sits the Maypearl Panthers.

The Panthers, are the clear underdog in this game. They enter with a 5-2 overall record and 3-1 record in district matchups. However, though Grandview is the favorite, the Panthers need not be overlooked in this game.

The Panthers have many weapons on offense. The squad is headed by quarterback Gunner Petty, running back Jagger Dixon, receivers Tariq Massey and Cameron Chapman and all complemented by coach Tal Sanders.

The Panthers feature fast players with swift moves but Grandview’s roster features many athletes that could be difference makers in Friday’s game.

The director of the Zebra’s offense, quarterback Landon Moon. The senior has had exceptional decision making this season, throwing only three interceptions on the year. Running back Earnest Crownover will be a pivotal key for the Zebras’ offense with his explosiveness and elusiveness.

Offense for both sides will be looking to make huge splashes. But the Zebra defense may have something to say about that. Linebacker Tyler Hale and Safety Kameron English have caused disruption for any offense the Zebras have faced.

The game kicks off in Maypearl at W.G. Roesler Field on Friday, October 27th at 7:30PM.
