Former Longview Lobos quarterback Haynes King has been named the starting QB for Texas A&M when they take on Kent State on September 4th.
King, a redshirt freshman, played behind 4-year starter Kellen Mond last season.
At 6-3, 200, King was a star for Longview for three years. His career prep totals: 7697 yards and 86 touchdowns.
2017 Season (13-2)
King passed for 2106 yards and 35 touchdowns and led the Lobos to the 6A state semifinals.
2018 Championship Season (16-0)
In 2018, King was named the District 11-6A Co-Offensive MVP after passing for 3665 yards and 41 touchdowns, and rushing for 568 yards and eight scores.
King led a Lobo offense that averaged 47 points per game on offense and a 15-0 record heading into the 6A state championship game against Beaumont West Brook.
It was a hard-fought victory for Longview, winning 35-34. King passed for 423 yards and two touchdowns and no INTs. He was named the game’s Offensive MVP.
The Lobos gained 569 yards of total offense.
King was named 6A 1st Team All-State and Offensive Player of the Year.
2019 Season
King passed for 1926 yards and 20 touchdowns. He was rated a 4-star recruit by 247sports.
He passed on several offers to sign with the Aggies, including Auburn, LSU, Miami, Ole Miss, Oregon, Tennessee, and TCU, just to name a few.
Texas A&M 2020
King played in two games last season. He made his college debut at No. 2 Alabama, throwing a 17-yard pass and leading the team with 43 rushing yards on five carries. Threw for his first career touchdown in the win at South Carolina.
