High on the Chaparrals: Austin Westlake vs San Marcos
The Chaparrals of Austin Westlake (4-0), the #1 ranked team in the texashsfootball.com Top 25, will host San Marcos (1-3) on Friday night in Austin.

The Chaps are scoring 52 points per game on offense, and are coming off a 63-6 demolition of Del Valle. This prolific offense is led by QB Cade Klubnik, who passed for six touchdowns against Del Valle. He has passed for 1171 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 2 INTs. Klubnik was named the MVP of the Elite 11 Quarterback Competition and he is a Clemson commit.
Leading the rushing attack is RB Hunter Henault, who has rushed for 515 yards and scored five total touchdowns. WR Jaden Greathouse leads the receiving corps with 373 yards and five touchdowns.
On defense, the Chaps are allowing just 13 points per game. They have racked up 248 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 17 sacks, and 4 INTs. This unit is led by Carter Barksdale, who has recorded 30 tackles, four tackles for loss, and 1 INT.
San Marcos
San Marcos is coming off a 45-6 loss to Lake Travis last week, a game in which they were held to less than 200 yards of total offense (80 yards passing, 112 rushing) and zero touchdowns. Their lone win of the season came against East Central of San Antonio in a 28-16 victory.
The Rattlers are scoring 24 points per game on offense and allowing 36 points per game on defense.
San Marcos is led on offense by QB Isaiah DeLeon, who has passed for 593 yards and just three touchdown passes, and 2 INTs. He has also added 264 yards on the ground and one rushing touchdown.
And they haven’t had any luck at all vs Westlake, going 0-3 and losing 56-0 to the Chaps in 2020.
