HOOK ‘EM: Longhorns star, Sachse product Devin Duvernay bound for Baltimore as NFL Draft’s 92nd pick

Devin Duvernay (Sachse) had a career season as a senior at Texas and now looks to make a name for himself in the NFL as the newest Baltimore Raven.

The Ravens selected the Longhorn wide receiver with the 92nd overall selection in the 2020 NFL Draft on Friday. The Ravens went 14-2 in 2019, but failed to win a playoff game.

Duvernay joins a team full of Longhorns as the Ravens also feature former Texas defensive backs DeShon Elliott (Rockwall Heath) and Earl Thomas (West Orange Stark) as well as kicker Justin Tucker (Austin Westlake).

Baltimore showed an affinity for talent from Texas on Friday by selecting Ohio State running back J.K. Dobbins (La Grange) and Texas A&M defensive lineman Justin Madubuike (McKinney North) earlier in the night.

Duvernay broke out in his senior season in Austin and was UT’s most reliable receiver in 2019. He accumulated 1,386 yards and nine touchdowns on 106 receptions and had one score on the ground to earn All Big 12 first-team honors. He was a two-time all-state and three-time all-district honoree at Sachse.
