Houston 5-Star QB D.J. Lagway Continues Undefeated Season
In the Greater Houston area, Willis maintained their unbeaten record with a 56-17 victory over College Park at Woodforest Bank Stadium. As a result, College Park suffered their first loss in district play; only The Woodlands and Willis are the undefeated teams in 13-6A.
In their victorious effort, the Wildkats outgained their opponent 492-286 in total yardage, primarily spearheaded by 5-star quarterback D.J. Lagway. The senior and Florida commit continued his monster season going 22-of-27 for 391 yards and five touchdowns, including a 52-yard bomb. It was a decent follow-up to his eight-touchdown night the week before, including seven in the first half in a 75-14 blowout against Cleveland.
In total, Lagway has 2,220 yards and 41 touchdowns through seven games. Throughout that span, he is averaging 367 total yards and five scores per game.
Inspired by the success of Indianapolis Colts quarterback, the 6-foot-2, 230-pound off-platform passer will join Florida’s No. 4-ranked class as their top prize. He has already surpassed his 2,081 yards and 24 touchdowns mark he previously set as a junior.
This season serves as Willis’ third-best start in school history, only trailing their openings in 1971 (8-0-2) and 1962 (8-0).
The Wildkats unblemished record will be put to the test at The Woodlands on Thursday, October 26th. In three total head-to-head meetings, the Highlanders have never lost.
