Houston Area Team on the Rise

Like most of Texas, Houston has its usual powerhouse teams that you can count on to win 9+ games and make a deep playoff run.  The Pasadena Dobie Longhorns are looking to join that list.

The Longhorns finished 9-2 last season. Head Coach Kevin Berneathy has the Longhorns in a position to make a run at bettering that with an undefeated season.  They are currently 3-0 with 7 games to go.  They started the season with a 39-28 win over Jersey Village.  They then beat St. Thomas 42-14.  Last week, they beat Fort Bend Bush 61-12.  Against the Broncos of Fort Bend Bush, they actually got off to a slow start but powered by a solid defense and led on offense by Trevion Williams and his 124 yards and three touchdowns rushing, the Longhorns pulled away and cruised to an impressive 49 point victory.

The Longhorns next challenge will come on Friday when they face the Channelview Falcons. The Falcons are 1-1. They bounced back from a 28-49 loss to Humble to beat Katy Cinco Ranch 24-21.   The Longhorns should be favored to win all of the remaining games on their schedule.  A 10-0 regular season is realistic.  Making a deep playoff run will be challenging, but they are a program on the rise and don’t be surprised if you see them upset a few teams in the playoffs this year.
