Hutto Key Players and Storylines
Eli Reinhart had quite the impact in his lone season at Hutto, leading the Hippos to their first playoff win since 2018. But when the opportunity arose to return to the college level as Grand Valley State’s offensive coordinator, Reinhart couldn’t pass it up.
Enter Casey Walraven, who led Alvarado to back-to-back undefeated regular seasons the past two years. He’ll inherit a Hutto roster loaded with talent.
Hutto will have one of the best receiving corps in the area with standout OU commit Jaiden Fields (1,345 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns), 6’3″ Western Kentucky commit Dylan Owens (947 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns), and promising rising junior Carson Fields (298 receiving yards and two touchdowns). They also have a massive anchor on their offensive line in 6’3″, 340-pound senior Jayden Mack.

The biggest question mark offensively lies at quarterback where the Hippos will have to replace a 3,000-yard passer.
Defensively, the secondary is also a strength. The Fields brothers will also star at safety alongside lockdown corner Michael Blaylark (56 tackles, one INT). In the front seven, senior linebacker Hunter Frenette (103 tackles) tackled everything in sight a year ago, while the Hippo coaching staff has high hopes for junior linebacker Michael Broom, who is moving up from JV.
The talent on this Hutto team is undeniable. With that star power, Walraven isn’t shy about setting the bar high, challenging his guys to chase a deep playoff run this fall.
