Let’s talk the best games in district play. There are many factors to consider, who plays who, who’s hot at the time, who’s got a chance at making those deep playoff runs. Here’s (arguably) the most important district game in every single district in class 6A
- El Paso Eastwood vs. El Paso El Dorado – Eastwood started off hot before a loss to Permian, and El Dorado is looking to take them out of the driver’s seat in district 1-6A.
- Odessa Permian vs. San Angelo Central – There’s not much to explain here – this will be the equivalent of a third round playoff game, just played in October.
- Abilene vs. Keller Fossil Ridge – Despite the early-season loss to San Angelo Central, this is still a good Abilene team. They’ll look to upset Fossil Ridge, the favorite in 3-6A.
- Arlington Lamar vs. Mansfield – This battle of underrated teams in Region I won’t disappoint.
- Southlake Carroll vs. Euless Trinity – Southlake has had a little bit of a tough start to their season. A win over Trinity could create some serious waves in how the playoffs play out.
- Allen vs. Denton Guyer – The powerful Denton Guyer offense will have their hands full at Allen.
- Cedar Hill vs. Desoto – If Cedar Hill had beaten Bishop Gorman in Week One, this district game would’ve been played between two top 25 national teams. All the same, it’s still an intense rivalry.
- Killeen Ellison vs. Waco Midway – Midway’s started 1-2, but it’s mostly due to the caliber of teams they’ve been playing. Ellison’s hot start will be challenged in district play.
- Coppell vs. Richardson Berkner – Coppell’s only loss is to an Allen team they played admirably. In a relatively weak district 9-6A, this game might decide the district championship.
- Rowlett vs. Sachse – These two undefeated teams have a big chance to create some real momentum during district play. The winner of this game will be in the driver’s seat for the district title.
- Tyler Lee vs. Tyler John Tyler – Anything can happen in this classic crosstown rivalry game. John Tyler’s Bryson Smith is worth the price of admission.
- The Woodlands vs. Lufkin – The Woodlands is becoming a trendy pick to make a deep playoff run. We’ll find out how good they are when the Pack comes to town.
- Cedar Ridge vs. Round Rock Westwood – Without a doubt, Cedar Ridge is the best kept secret in 6A. They’ve only given up 10 points this season, and don’t look to give up much against Round Rock Westwood.
- Austin Bowie vs. Austin Akins – Bowie looks to take their revamped team to a title. In order to do so, they have to go through Akins.
- Houston Stratford vs. Klein Collins – Collins’s only loss is to Katy in overtime. Stratford will provide the stiffest competition in district play.
- Spring vs. Spring Westfield – Westfield is 0-3, but they’ve played stiff competition. This game will be the best game in a comparatively weak district.
- Houston Cypress Ranch vs. Houston Cypress Ridge – This duel of currently undefeated teams might decide more than a district title – important playoff seedings will be on the line.
- Houston Lamar vs. Houston Chavez – Houston Lamar is ridiculously talented, but that talent will be put to the test at Chavez.
- Katy vs. Katy Cinco Ranch – One of the kings of Texas High School Football is looking vulnerable, and Cinco Ranch is chomping at the bit to get a piece of the champ.
- Fort Bend Kempner vs. Fort Bend Ridge Point – This weekend’s clash of 3-0 teams will put one of these two schools in the district title driver’s seat.
- Galena Park North Shore vs. Atascocita – Atascocoita has the talent to challenge one of the big names in Texas High School Football.
- La Porte vs. Pasadena Memorial – La Porte has struggled so far this season, but look for those struggles to fade away by the time they play Pasadena Memorial.
- Pearland vs. George Ranch – Pearland has the talent to overcome their slow start, and George Ranch is better than their two touchdown loss to Dickinson.
- Dickinson vs. Friendswood – If the Gators can keep up the momentum from their hot start, they might blaze their way through this district.
- Lake Travis vs. Austin Westlake – If Westlake QB Sam Ehlinger is back, this one could be a game for the ages.
- San Antonio Madison vs. San Antonio Reagan – Madison has rebounded from an embarrassing early-season loss to Steele, and Reagan is looking solid in nondistrict competition.
- Cibolo Steele vs. Converse Judson – Judson is one of the hottest teams in the state, and Steele will provide tough competition with dynamic quarterback Xavier Martin.
- O’Connor vs. Clark – If Clark can continue hitting their stride, they’ll challenge O’Connor.
- Eagle Pass vs. Del Rio – Del Rio needs to keep their solid start going if they want to win this district.
- La Joya Juarez-Lincon vs. McAllen Rowe – Rowe’s hot start will be challenged by a sneaky good Juarez-Lincoln team.
- Edinburg Enconomedes vs. Edinburg Vela – Vela has some impressive wins on their resume already, and a season-ending matchup with Enconomedes might decide the district title.
- San Benito vs. Harlingen South – The biggest threat to San Benito this year isn’t Harlingen, it’s Harlingen South.
