Ingleside J.C. Smith Joins Strong UNT Local Recruiting Class
Ingleside High School celebrated Jaydon “J.C.” Smith’s commitment to UNT. As a senior for the Mustangs, Smith broke all kinds of school records and tied the high school national record for most receiving touchdowns in a season with 39 touchdowns. The milestone puts the senior receiver in elite company like Dallas Cowboys CeeDee Lamb (Fort Bend County) and Seahawks rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba (Rockwall). Through 12 games in the season, Smith had 76 receptions and 1,789 yards.
After signing his letter of intent, Smith claimed he felt right at home in Denton; he has also been told he will get the opportunity to compete right away for playing time. He will join his older brother with the Mean Green; his younger brother also plans on playing at the school.
Throughout his time at Ingleside, Smith played football, basketball, and ran track. He plans on graduating early this February. He turned down offers from both Washington and Nebraska.
During his second year as HC, coach Eric Morris currently boasts eight signees, including Smith, who is considered the best current signing. Fellow local Texas high school standouts Hudson Emetrio, Gabe Stroud, Jaden Pettway, and many others headline the commit list.
