[Editor’s note: the following article is a letter received by TexasHSFootball from Grant Farley. Farley is a lifelong best friend of Grant Milton. The road ahead for the Milton Family and Grant’s full recovery is long and expensive. Thank you for taking a special interest in this story, one of many that defines the sport we all love.]

A Letter of Gratitude and an Update

Thank you TexasHSFootball.com readers who responded to help Grant Milton. You have no idea how much your financial and loving support has helped Grant and his family. His father told me again last night how grateful he was for the prayers and support they are receiving. This outpouring of love, prayers, and resources has gone national and is nothing short of a miracle.

Grant is still in a coma, but showing signs of improvement daily. He has moved both arms and legs and his dad said, “Yesterday was Grant’s best day yet.” Even though Grant is in a coma, his family and doctors hope to move him back to The Woodlands in a little over a week. He is still in critical condition, but daily improvements are so uplifting to everyone involved. I heard that his family listened to his high school playoff game last Saturday at his bedside, and that his vital signs spiked when our school fight song was played. He may be in a coma, but he is there.

I know Grant very well, and he is a fighter – he will never give up! He is smart, and he accomplishes his goals with fortitude and hard work. If anybody can pull through this type of crisis, Grant can and he will. Your generosity is giving Grant a better pathway to recovery, and it is not going unrecognized. However, the medical costs are going to be huge, so hope all will continue to share Grant’s story.

Another person who deserves a lot of credit in advancing Grant’s support is Mr. Brian DeMarco. His empathy has helped give Grant’s crisis a voice, and I want people to know how important and appreciated he has been in helping Grant. Thank you Mr. DeMarco for opening your heart to Grant Milton – #21Strong.

Sincerely,
Grant Farley
