The Minnesota Vikings added some young defensive help on Thursday by drafting TCU’s Jeff Gladney (New Boston)  with the 31st overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

The Vikings finished the regular season with a 10-6 record in 2019 and made it to the NFC Divisional Playoffs.

Gladney had 31 tackles and an interception for the Horned Frogs in 2019. He was named the District 7-3A Most Valuable Player as a senior at New Boston.

Gladney was the latest in a line of former Texas High School football starts that were drafted in the first round. The Detroit Lions selected Ohio State’s Jeff Okudah (South Grand Prairie) third overall, the Dallas Cowboys took Oklahoma wide receiver Cedarian “CeeDee” Lamb (Richmond Foster) 17th overall, the Jacksonville Jaguars selected K’Lavon Chaisson (Galena Park North Shore) 20th overall and the Philadelphia Eagles drafter TCU wide receiver Jalen Reagor (Wacahachie) with the 21stpick,
