Katy Tigers Win Easily – Sit at Top of District 19-6A

Round Rock Hail Roof Inspection

Thursday Night, October 19th, 2023, The Katy Tigers vs The Cinco Ranch Cougars took place. Two of the most notorious teams in Katy are known for their strong offensive formation. It should be a great battle between offenses.

Cinco Ranch received the 1st kickoff of the game. Within about four minutes, Cinco Ranch was forced to punt it to Katy. Katy steadily drove the ball down the field and landed in Cinco Ranch’s 20-yard line. Katy, with a chance to score, fumbled the ball and was recovered by Cougar’s cornerback #2 Superior Hill and he ran in for an 81-yard touchdown. The extra point failed, and the 1st quarter ended with a score of 6-0. Early in the 2nd quarter, Tigers’ running back #8 Chase Johnsey rushed for a 38-yard touchdown. The Cougars got the ball back but had to punt it back again to The Tigers. Katy was efficiently moving the ball, and halfway through the quarter, running back #40 Tremayne Hill rushed in for an 11-yard touchdown. Cinco Ranch got the ball again, but their offensive line could not handle Katy’s defense as they kept rushing the quarterback or sacking him. Katy now has possession of the ball with 4 minutes left in the quarter, and within that time, Katy reached Cinco Ranch’s 20-yard line, and Katy quarterback #15 Gunner Nelson threw a touchdown pass to wide receiver #1 Israel Olotu-Judah. At halftime, the score was 21-6.

Right after the half, Cinco Ranch had to kick off to Katy. Like clockwork, Gunner saw Israel open and threw him another touchdown pass for 38 yards. Cinco Ranch’s offense could not catch a break, making it almost impossible to get near the end zone. With under a minute in the 3rd quarter, Chase scored another touchdown, extending Katy’s lead. Finally, in the 4th quarter, Cinco Ranch’s quarterback, #15 Davis Roup, threw a touchdown pass to #11 Gavin Beavers. However, after a failed onside kick from Cinco Ranch, Katy recovered the ball midfield, and in a couple of drives, Tremayne scored another touchdown. The 4th quarter ended, and the final score was 42-13, with Katy coming out victorious.

I was not expecting Cinco Ranch to be overwhelmed so easily. Katy proves they’re still one of the best teams in the state. Katy has two more games in the regular against The Seven Lakes Trojans next week and Katy Taylor’s Mustangs the week after. While Cinco Ranch has an upcoming bye next week, their last game is the week after against The Seven Lakes Trojans.
