Keller Indians 2026 Season Preview
Keller Indians
Head Coach: Carl Stralow (15th season; 76-73 record)
Last Season: 5-6; 4-4 in district (Lost to North Crowley in bi-district)
Keller Key Players and Storylines

On the bright side, three of their five regular season losses were by nine combined points, so Keller certainly left some money on the table last fall. The only issue? They were led by a pretty senior-heavy squad.
Gone are their starting quarterback, leading rusher, and top four receivers. Junior quarterback Matt McCroskey (206 passing yards and three touchdowns) did see action in four games last year, so he’s primed to step into the starting role. He’ll have a pair of returning second team all-district linemen ahead of him in center Chase Watkins and guard Judd Mahon.
Defensively, they do have a star in the making in junior three-star linebacker Kaiden McCauley (141 tackles, 18 TFLs), who led the Indians in tackles last year. He and senior linebacker Quinton Boatner (107 tackles, three TFLs) will be the backbone of the Keller defense. In the secondary, the Indians can lean on junior corner Cooper Glass (42 tackles) and defensive back James Middleton (43 tackles), who started every game last season.

Keller certainly has some questions to answer at the offensive skill positions, but this is a team that has made the playoffs in four of the past five seasons. Last year, the Indians played in seven one-possession games, showing it will likely come down to fine margins when trying to decide the final playoff teams again this fall.
