On September 22nd, 2023, The Tomball Memorial Wildcats played against The Klein Cain Hurricanes. Both teams have started their seasons off well. Klein Cain’s only loss was against The Summer Creek Bulldogs, a football game that went down to the wire, and Tomball Memorial is currently undefeated.
Tomball Memorial received the 1st kickoff of the game. The Wildcats drove the ball down the field, and quarterback #15 Aiden Martin threw a touchdown pass to #1 Yeriel Rodriguez. Tomball Memorial got the ball back. Aiden threw another touchdown pass, and Klein Cain was about to punt the ball back to Tomball Memorial, but an over snap led to outside linebacker #17 Hayden Winsor scoring a 4-yard touchdown. This ended the 1st quarter, and the score was 21-0. The 2nd quarter started, and Tomball Memorial kept scoring touchdown after touchdown and a safety, but Klein Cain scored two touchdowns. By half, the score was 13-44, with Tomball Memorial in the lead.
In the 3rd quarter, Tomball Memorial was more dominant than before. Aiden properly distributed the ball to his playmakers, and Tomball Memorial scored four touchdowns in the 3rd quarter, reaching 72 points. Klein Cain tried their best to catch up but could not get close to Tomball Memorial. The Wildcats scored one more touchdown in the 4th quarter, and the final score was 79-33, with Tomball Memorial continuing their win streak.
This game put The Tomball Memorial Wildcats ranked #11 in the Houston area. No other team this week in the city scored 79 points, and quarterback Aiden Martin was able to stay calm in the pocket, passed for 375 yards, completed 18/20 passes, passed 6 touchdown passes, and rushed in one touchdown himself. Wide receiver #3 Lance Martinez was one of Aiden’s main targets throughout the Klein Cain game. Lance had 4 receptions but scored 3 touchdowns. He knew how to get open for passes using his speed and footwork.
