Klein Forest Key Players and Storylines
Klein Forest had its best offensive output since 2020 a year ago. The only problem? Its defense allowed 43.5 points per game. Those struggles meant the Eagles finished just 2-8 for the second-straight year.
Heading into 2026, there’s work to do if the Eagles are to reach similar heights offensively. Graduation hit the Eagles hard. Gone are their starting quarterback, both all-district linemen, and three of their four leaders in receiving yards. The only returner from that group is running back DJ Etheridge (837 rushing yards, 532 receiving yards, 20 total TDs), who is truly a jack-of-all-trades. He will have fullback Aadeyn Brown to help pave the way for him, but besides that, most of the rest of the Eagle offense will have to prove themselves under the Friday night lights.

Defensively, the Eagles will lean on their experience on the back end with safety John Henderson IV and cornerback Edmond Simmons (33 tackles), who didn’t allow a single touchdown a year ago. In front of them, linebacker Robert Johnson (101 tackles and eight TFLs) will patrol anything across the middle of the field alongside Louis Clemons (38 tackles, five TFLs).
With Etheridge and Johnson, the Eagles have their cornerstones to build around on each side of the ball. They do have seven of their eight all-district players to replace from 2025, so it’ll be up to the next crop of Eagles to develop quickly if Klein Forest wants to take a step forward in the win column this fall.
