Lake Travis and Atasocita entered Saturday afternoon’s game at the Alamodome with seemingly unstoppable momentum as they squared off for the right to play for a state title. Atascocita got off to a fast start, but Lake Travis would catch fire and stay hot to a 63-21 runaway win over the Eagles.

Both teams entered the game with top-level quarterbacks in Charlie Brewer for Lake Travis and Daveon Boyd for Atascocita and they quickly showed why each of their teams had made it to this stage.

Atascocita made their way down the field with impeccable precision on their opening drive, capped off by a Boyd touchdown pass to Alerick Soularie for an early 7-0 lead. Lake Travis matched their precision and then some, with touchdowns by Maleek Barkley and Charlie Brewer on consecutive drives. After a Cavalier fumble recovery at the Atascocita 30-yard line, Barkley found the end zone again for another touchdown. Just like that, Lake Travis had a 21-7 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Cavaliers defense would continue to show its power as Jake Foster intercepted a Boyd pass early in the second quarter to contain the high-flying Eagles offense. Lake Travis would cash in on offense thanks to a touchdown pass from Charlie Brewer to Cade Brewer. The Cavaliers would add another touchdown from the arm of Brewer, finding Garrett Wilson to give Lake Travis a 35-7 lead entering halftime. Atascocita was able to get pressure on Brewer, but the Eagles were left with far more questions than answers.

The second half was more of the same story for Atascocita. The Brewer connection worked again on the Cavaliers first possession as the duo linked up for another touchdown. A long Cade Green punt return would set the Cavaliers up inside the 10-yard line, where the Brewer duo again found the end zone to put Lake Travis up 49-7.  Garrett Bressette would add a 1-yard run of his own to make it 56-7 in the third. Atascocita would eventually score twice more to shrink the final deficit, but the Cavaliers had already made their statement.

With the win, Lake Travis will go head-to-head against The Woodlands next Saturday night at AT&T Stadium for a chance to win a Class 6A Division I title.
