Lake Travis finished their non-district sweep, defeating Legacy Rebels at Astound Broadband Stadium 41-20. The Cavaliers capped off their second consecutive regular season non-district tilt without a blemish on their record.
LT set the tone, striking first with running back Vann Hopping 20 yard run at the 10:06 mark.
Both teams traded blows, until the Rebels were dealt with the loss of starting quarterback Jaden Rogers, who suffered an injury from a horse collar tackle late in the second quarter. Replaced by sophomore JP Reyes, the team immediately marched down the field, highlighted by running back Andrew Hodge breakaway for a 34-yard score, cutting the deficit to 21-20 at halftime.
The game took a turn in the third quarter. After the Cavaliers extended its lead behind a 42-yard field goal booted by Braydon Doane, the Rebels fumbled the snap on the next possession, giving the ball up at the LHS 6. After, the Cavaliers broke it open, restricting the Rebels from scoring for the rest of the game.
Despite their admirable showing in the first half, the Rebels fall to 0-3 in their inaugural season. Still, the first-time Texas high school football program had some grit, especially on the defensive end of the ball; the Rebels claimed all of their points off of Lake Travis turnovers.
Legacy will look for their first win when they visit Abilene High on Friday. Lake Travis will try and keep their win streak alive against San Marcos in the first contest of their district schedule.
