LOS FRESNOS, Texas —  For one state title contender, Saturday regional final match up at was a day at the beach at Leo Aguilar Stadium. For the other, it meant a short trip back home and the end of a season.

Lake Travis High School traveled to South Texas to take on the Falcons, taking down Los Fresnos 42-7 and claiming a regional Final berth.

Los Fresnos (9-3) has most definitely held their own. They are small town football at its finest, with a strong sense of pride for their community and passion for the game of football.

Lake Travis quarterback Matthew Baldwin completed a long pass to Carson Cross and set up a touchdown run of his own on a five yard score. Los Fresnos seemed to be gaining momentum, energized by an electric crowd and the hype of playoffs, but were stopped when Nathan Parodi, intercepted a Los Fresnos pass. The Cavaliers converted with a Baldwin touchdown pass to Garrett Wilson for a 14-0 lead.

Lake Travis continued to heat up as Kyle Wakefield scored another touchdown and Kyle Eaves intercepted yet another Los Fresnos pass. Wilson then went on to score two more touchdowns in the first half, one in which he managed to complete a fade route despite a Los Fresnos pass interference to make it 35-0 at the half.

Lake Travis would add another touchdown in the second half whie Los Fresnos quarterback Charles Chapa ran the ball in for a touchdown to break the shutout and cap off the scoring.

Lake Travis will move on to play against San Antonio O’Connor at the Alamodome in the finals next  Saturday.
