In a thrilling District 13-6A contest, Lampasas defeated Burnet 42-38 on October 18. Both teams went punch-for-punch, with neither side giving an inch. Burnet opened the scoring with a 42-yard touchdown pass from Rhett Murray to Colt Stanford. However, Lampasas responded with a 21-yard run, and the teams exchanged scores throughout the first half, leaving Burnet with a narrow 24-21 lead at halftime.
The second half saw more of the same, with each team finding ways to score. Burnet’s David Prather snagged a 59-yard touchdown, briefly giving the Bulldogs the lead, but Lampasas answered with a decisive 41-yard touchdown pass late in the game. The Badgers ran out the clock with a crucial first down, leaving Burnet with no chance to respond.
Both offenses thrived, with Burnet totaling 479 yards and Lampasas finishing with 460 yards, 324 of which came on the ground. Burnet drops to 5-3 and will face Brownwood next week, while Lampasas, now 7-1, prepares to host Stephenville.
