Lewisville continued its strong start to district play Friday with a 38-8 win over Frisco Wakeland.

The Fighting Farmers improved to 2-0 in District 5-6A and 2-3 overall after pulling away in the second half. Lewisville entered the matchup following a 40-7 win over Flower Mound Marcus.

Wakeland kept the game competitive early, but Lewisville’s running game and defense eventually took control. Senior Derrick Martin led the offense with three rushing touchdowns as the Farmers created separation after halftime.

Lewisville Keeps District Record Perfect

The overall record still carries an unusual twist.

Lewisville originally won its first three games against Highland Park, Byron Nelson and Denton Ryan. Those victories were later changed to forfeits after quarterback Laykon Brassfield was ruled ineligible because of a residency issue.

Since district play began, Lewisville has responded with two decisive wins. The Farmers have outscored Marcus and Wakeland 78-15 while starting 2-0 in games that directly impact their playoff position.

The strong district start keeps Lewisville in a good position heading into the next part of its schedule.

Next up, the Farmers face Denton Guyer as District 5-6A play continues.
