Highland Park entered Friday chasing a third straight win over a Frisco ISD opponent, but Lone Star had other plans at The Ford Center at The Star. After a 10–10 first quarter, Lone Star imposed its tempo and physicality, outscoring Highland Park over the final three frames to secure a 58–38 victory and a trip to the Class 5A Division I state semifinals.
Quarterback Trey Wright delivered one of the most explosive playoff performances of the season, totaling 653 yards of offense. He threw for 477 yards and three touchdowns while adding 176 more on the ground. Lone Star’s playmakers dominated throughout the night, with Davian Groce and Zach Forbish combining for 329 receiving yards, and running back Karece Hoyt powering in multiple short-yardage scores.
Highland Park quarterback Buck Randall kept the Scots within reach, throwing for 334 yards and four touchdowns while adding another on the ground. Matthew White added scoring plays of 39 and 44 yards, but Highland Park struggled to slow Lone Star’s relentless pace. Turnovers proved costly, with Lone Star capitalizing on multiple takeaways, including a late-second-quarter interception that helped break the game open.
With the win, Lone Star moves to 14–0 and advances to the state semifinals for the first time since 2019, where they will meet top-ranked Aledo. Highland Park’s season concludes at 12–2 after a deep playoff run and a high-scoring battle that never lacked fireworks.
