Longview Key Players and Storylines

All aboard the Longview Lobos train. After losing their two district games by a combined four points last season, the Lobos are on the prowl for a district title in 2026.

Ten starters are back, including the dynamic duo of quarterback Johnny Hamilton (2,377 passing yards) and receiver Jaden Hurndon (1,093 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns). Hurndon is already a four-star prospect as a junior, while Hamilton is a dual threat who threw for 22 touchdowns and just one interception a year ago.

They’ll have a solid foundation in front of them with three returning starters on the offensive line in 6’1”, 270-pound Jayden Jackson, a three-year starter, 6’3”, 290-pound Zorion Dunn, and 6’0”, 260-pound Braxton Williams.

For those of you that don’t get out this way enough… There is a 6’3, 205 lb JR Quarterback out here in East Texas that can make every throw, keep his composure when he gets off-schedule, runs a 4.65ish 40 and is as tough as an old boot.

Defensively, linebacker Lawson Tubb (130 tackles, 14 TFLs) always seems to be in the right place at the right time. Defensive end Tyson Johnson (63 tackles, 14 TFLs) is another threat to opposing backfields, while defensive backs T.J. Jackson (48 tackles, one INT) and Hobert Nelson (57 tackles) are Longview’s two other returning starters on that side of the ball.

Before last season, Longview had won three-straight district titles. With playmakers back on both sides of the ball, John King believes this group has what it takes to contend for that top spot again this fall.
