Penn State and James Franklin must really like the 2018 class of defensive backs in Texas, because now they’ve got two. Isaiah Humphries committed a while back, but the newest one is Manvel DB Trent Gordon.

The Mavericks are one of the most talented teams in the state year in and year out, and 2017 will be no different. They return nearly the entirety of their skill positions, and will be looking like the odds on favorite to win a title in 5A.

In 2016 they were the odds-on favorite as well, but a run-in with an upstart Temple squad ruined all of that. The Mavericks lost by a single point after 13 games of utter dominance. The new season might see some changes in key positions, but Manvel will be strong again.
