Matadors Crush Chiefs in 63-0 Shutout

Round Rock Hail Roof Inspection

On Friday night the Matadors from Estacado hosted the Chiefs from Lake View at Lowery field in the final district game of the season.

The Matadors started hot and never stopped as DJ Johnson completed 5 of 5 passes for 104 yards throwing for 3 touchdowns. Johnson connected with receivers Devoryea Boyd, who had 3 receptions for 37 yards scoring twice, and Cedric Ross, who had a 54-yard receiving touchdown. We also saw DJ Johnson’s diversity as a player as he was moved out to receiver, scoring on a 50-yard touchdown pass from William Blaylock II.

As the Matadors moved successfully through the air, they also pounded the rock on the ground, as James Bozeman rushed for 95 yards on 3 carries scoring once, and Bobby Ross rushed 2 times for 36 yards scoring once. The Matador defense had one of their best games defensively.  Nate Orta had 10 tackles, Kei’sean Harris had 9 tackles, and Mehki Williams had 8 tackles, as they led their defense throughout the night.   Not only did they stop Lake View’s offense all night, but they were also successful putting points on the scoreboard, as Mehki Williams forced a fumble near the Chiefs goal line that Kei’sean Harris recovered for a Matador touchdown.

Estacado routs Lake View 63-0.

Next week Estacado will start their playoff run against Bowie (El Paso) at Pecos HS.  The loss to Estacado was the last game for Lake View, as they will now enter the off season in preparation for next fall, and hope for a return to the playoffs.
