We’re still about a month-and-a-half from the startof the 2016 season, but here are some early predictions on which players will take home district MVP awards.
Class 6A
3-6A: Abilene running back Abram Smith. The Tulsa pledge has run for more than 2,000 yards over the last two seasons. Abilene will be the favorite to win a district that includes the Keller schools, Weatherford and Haltom.
4-6A: Mansfield running back Kennedy Brooks. The MaxPreps.com preseason All-American ran for 3,522 yards and 42 touchdowns last season. After reaching the state semifinals in 2015, Mansfield should battle Arlington Martin for the district title in 4-6A as Brooks wins a second straight district MVP award.
5-6A: Southlake Carroll quarterback Mason Holmes. It should be a great battle between Southlake Carroll and Euless Trinity for the district title. Look for Holmes’ passing to make the difference as Carroll comes out on top. He threw for 2,879 yards and 38 touchdowns last year and may have to do more in 2016 with the loss of star running back Lil’ Jordan Humphrey. If Lewisville makes the playoffs, Alabama pledge Tyrell Shavers could be a district MVP candidate as a wide receiver.
