Wednesday morning, Duncanville’s 3-star cornerback Ennis Rakestraw choked up as he spoke about working hard to achieve the day’s accomplishment, saying, “Momma, you don’t gotta pay for college.”
Moments later, Rakestraw announced he would be signing his National Letter of Intent with Missouri.
The senior’s first major offer came from Missouri and he made his first official visit in January to Missouri and first impressions proved to be lasting on Wednesday as Rakestraw announced he would sign with the SEC school.
Rakestraw entered his senior season with no offers from Power 5 schools, but that changed over the last two months as the likes of Alabama, Baylor, Georgia, Miami, Michigan State, Texas and more began rolling in with offer.
As a junior, Rakestraw was turned away from an Under Armour camp. The center back used that as motivation to come into his senior season stronger than ever and open eyes to what programs were missing out on.
Mizzou finished 6-6 in 2019 and Rakestraw will attempt to help the Tigers make waves in the upcoming season.
