The nation’s second-longest active high school football winning streak is over.
In a stunning upset, Austin Westlake beat Allen 23-17 in a 6A state semifinal Friday night, snapping the Eagles’ 57-game winning streak and ending Allen’s hopes for a fourth consecutive state title. Allen lost for the first time since a 37-34 overtime loss at Coppell on Sept. 28, 2012.
Allen, ranked No. 3 in the Super 25, put on a furious fourth-quarter rally but came up short to end its season at 14-1.
