The North Forney Falcons have a new head football coach. North Forney named former McKinney coach Marcus Shavers as their new head football coach.
Shavers will be taking over for Eric Luster. Luster coached the Falcons for three seasons and led them to a 9-3 record last year, their first 9-win season since 2017 and one win shy of their school record for wins. Luster left North Forney to become the head coach for the Brazoswood Buccaneers.
Marcus Shavers was the head coach at McKinney for 6 seasons and had a record of 37-31. Last year, Shavers led the Lions to a 9-3 season and the second round in the playoffs after a 2022 season in which he led the 8-5 Lions to the third round of the playoffs.
North Forney is a program on the rise, but Shavers will have his work cut out for him. The Falcons lost their quarterback, who transferred to Cedar Hill, and their leading wide receiver, Kasen McCoy, graduated. But, the Falcons do have a lot of returning talent, and Shavers should be able to lead the team to another winning season.
