Will North Shore go undefeated and claim their third straight 6A Division 1 UIL State Championship?
North Shore is currently ranked #2 by Max Preps in the state of Texas behind Duncanville and #1 by DC TX Football in the rankings. With a strong showing by then in their week 1, we are likely to have them #1 in our initial rankings as well. Here is a look at their schedule at they attempt to win their 5th UIL State Championship:
9/25 vs Shadow Creek
10/1 vs Klein Collins
10/9 vs Willis
10/16 vs Manvel
10/23 vs West Brook
11/6 vs Kingwood
11/13 vs Summer Creek
11/19 vs King
11/27 vs Atascocita
Over the last two years, Head Coach Jon Kay has led North Shore to a 15-1 record In 2019 and 16-0 in 2018 and two straight state titles. If things go according to the preseason predictions, North Shore will play just two of the Top 25 teams in the current rankings, Shadow Creek in their first game and Atascocita in their final regular-season game.
The Mustangs are led by Quarterback Dematrius Davis, Jr. Davis had totaled 2,670 passing yards, 1,446 rushing yards, 54 total touchdowns, two back-to-back state championship titles, and a 15-1 record with North Shore. The star QB is on his way next year to play for the Auburn Tigers, but first, he is looking to win his third straight UIL State Championship. David had originally committed to Virginia Tech but changed his commitment. (CLICK HERE for the story of his college commitment)
We like North Shores’ chance of going undefeated and winning their 3rd straight title, but they do have two tough games on their nine-game schedule and they will likely be facing some great teams in the playoffs that will be hungry to knock off the Mustangs!
