The Odessa Permian Panthers have high expectations for the 2017 season but now they will only have nine games to play during the regular season in 2017. On Thursday, the Permian sports Twitter account that Bishop Timon-St. Jude of Buffalo, New York cancelled their trip to West Texas for their game against the MOJO. The two teams were scheduled to play on September 22.

Head coach Blake Feldt confirmed the cancellation of the game with TexasHSFootball on Friday. Feldt also told TexasHSFootball that they would not look to schedule a replacement game. With less than seven weeks before the start of the season, it would have been a difficult task. As a result, the Panthers are scheduled to play just nine regular season games in 2017.
The two teams played last year in Ratliff Stadium with Permian winning that game 55-12.
The matchup with Bishop Timon-St. Jude was supposed to be the school’s homecoming game. Instead, homecoming will be October 20 when the Panthers host Amarillo Tascosa.
