Pasadena Memorial Key Players and Storylines
Colton Freeman can’t wait to watch Pasadena Memorial compete this fall. Not only do the Mavericks have a senior heavy roster, but they also have a talented group of sophomores ready to provide depth.
Freeman has been on staff since 2019, and the eight starters returning on defense this year are the most he said the Mavericks have had in that time frame. In the secondary, the Mavericks have a safety blanket with safety Logan Gerber (55 tackles, three INTs) while cornerback Kevin Toussaint (40 tackles, one INT) can go head-to-head with opposing top receivers after earning second team all-district honors last fall.
Up front, defensive end Javier Toledo brings plenty of explosiveness off the edge.
Offensively, the Mavericks expect to be able to sling the ball around. Quarterback Landon Johnson combines great vision with his six-foot-four frame. He’ll also benefit from the presence of receiver Joseph Castillo (431 receiving yards and five touchdowns), who is Memorial’s home run threat after averaging 40 yards per catch last season. Up front, 6’0″, 285-pound senior Nik Anciso is back after earning an all-district honorable mention in 2025.

Heading into 2026, health is a big concern for the Mavericks. Their bye week is in week 11, so there won’t be a period to get players healthy once the season begins. However, if the Mavericks can keep a clean bill of health, Freeman expects them to be much more competitive in District 19-6A this year with their “no quit” attitude.
