Roten will take over for Kent Walker, who went 3-8 in his only season as the head coach of the Eagles. Walker left to take a job with his brother, Jeff Walker, as an assistant at Liberty Hill. Jeff Walker was hired as the Panthers’ head coach back in February.
Roten’s offense was a big key for the Tigers in 2016 as they put up nearly 42 points a game en route to a 16-0 season and a 43-7 victory over Boling in the Class 3A Division II title game.
Per Tim Waits, the board meeting where Roten would be scheduled to be approved is on Thursday.
