The former Abilene High star and Tulsa standout has been waiting for his opportunity in the league after the Buffalo Bills offered him a contract as an undrafted free agent but pulled the offer shortly after due to his injury history during the draft process. TexasHSFootball.com’s Hunter Cooke chronicled Lucas’ personal journey from his days as an Abilene Eagle to the events of the NFL Draft back in April.
Lucas will have one familiar face at Eagles camp. His quarterback at Tulsa, Dane Evans, signed as an undrafted free agent at the end of June with Philadelphia. The duo were part of one of the most explosive offenses in the country last season.
The Eagles play their next preseason game on August 17 against the Buffalo Bills.
