Texas high school football is officially back. Most schools from across the state put on the helmets for the first time to start preseason practice for the upcoming season.
Teams from Class 4A on down to 5A and 6A teams who did not participate in spring football were eligible to start practice on Monday. One of those teams getting started for the 2017 were the El Paso Chapin Huskies.
The Huskies enter 2017 coming off a 9-3 season that ended in the area round in the Class 5A Division 1 playoffs against Lubbock Coronado. Under head coach Rene Hernandez, Chapin is looking for a better finish to the season after starting 8-0 and then losing three of their last four.
Here are some shots from their first practice of the 2017 season. Full story on the Huskies will be coming later today.
