Preview: Lake Travis vs Rockwall
Week 3 of the 2021 Texas high school football season continues with yet another great matchup as the Lake Travis Cavaliers (2-0) travel to take on the Rockwall Yellowjackets (2-0) on Friday night, September 10. The kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
Lake Travis is coming off a 52-20 win over Converse Judson last week, while Rockwall hung 75 points on Dallas Jesuit in a 75-28 win. The Cavaliers are averaging 46 points per game on offense. The Yellowjackets are averaging a whopping 58 points per contest.
Lake Travis 52 – Judson 20
Lake Travis gained 275 yards of offense against the Rockets. They were 7 of 15 on 3rd down conversions. The Cavaliers’ defense held Judson to 194 total yards, including just 34 yards rushing. They forced four Judson turnovers: three fumbles and an INT.
Cavaliers QB Bo Edmundson passed for 120 yards and 1 touchdown and an INT. RB Nico Hamilton added 85 yards on the ground and a score.
Hunter Rioux returned a kickoff for a touchdown. Derrick Johnson returned an INT for a touchdown.
Isaac Norris scored two touchdowns: a 55-yard kickoff return for a score and he caught eight passes for 69 yards and another TD.
Rockwall 75 – Dallas Jesuit 28
The Yellowjackets led 30-0 over Dallas Jesuit…after the 1st quarter. They led 47-21 at halftime and outscored Jesuit 28-7 in the second half on their way to a 47-point victory.
Rockwall QB Braeden Locke passed for 420 yards and five touchdowns and no INTs. RB Zach Hernandez rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns, averaging eight yards per carry.
Lake Bennett, Parker Williams, and J. Varnan each added a rushing touchdown.
WR Noble Johnson caught eight passes for 194 yards and two TDs. Aiden Meeks, Caden Marshall, and Brennan Ray also caught touchdown passes.
For the Yellowjacket defense, Bennet recorded nine tackles, P. Bazemore added six tackles and three tackles for loss, and Jake Overstreet racked up eight tackles.
