Reagan Routes East Central, Sets Up Bout With Westlake
A total offense of 507 yards is what it took for the Reagan Rattlers to clobber East Central 55-21 in a Class 6A Division I bi-district playoff Friday at Comalander Stadium.
Credit senior quarterback Brad Jackson for the offensive onslaught. Jackson accounted for six scores, with five touchdowns through the air. Four of the scoring tosses went to receiver Jeter Battles consecutively in the first half.
The Rattler struck early on the second play of the game, as Jackson found Caleb Cappuccio for a 40-yard toss. The Hornets were quick to respond. Isaiah Mackey got into the end zone on an 11-yard touchdown run, tying the score with 8:53 left in the first quarter. Reagan regained the lead when Jackson threw a 23-yarder with 3:43 in the first—his first of four touchdown passes to Battles. In the next three drives, Jackson hit Battles with 25, 19, and 15-yard scores, respectively. By halftime, the Rattlers were running away with it with the 34-7 advantage.
In total, the Rattlers defense held the Hornets to 263 yards of total offense. Although Mackey accounted for two of East Central’s three scores, he was sacked thrice.
The undefeated Reagan takes on fellow undefeated Westlake in the area round next week at Seguin Matador Stadium. The teams last competed in the 2016 playoffs, where our team was on hand to see the Chaps clobber the Rattlers.
