Red Oak Key Players and Storylines
Welcome to the big leagues, Red Oak. For the first time ever, the Hawks will play 6A football, and they’ll have to do it in one of the toughest districts in the entire state. Duncanville, North Crowley, Waxahachie, and a rising Lake Ridge program are among the teams waiting in the wings in 11-6A.
The Hawks will have a new-look offense this year after graduating their starting quarterback, leading rusher, and leading receiver. Speedy running back Daylan Johnson (496 rushing yards and six touchdowns) is set to take over the backfield, while 6’3” Christian Totten (268 receiving yards and four touchdowns) will be the Hawks’ deep threat at receiver. At quarterback, dual threat senior Tuhran Square is stepping into the starting role after attempting 36 passes as the backup last season.
Defensively, the Hawks are headlined by defensive tackle Johnnie Fitzgerald III, who is a three-year starter. On the back end, safety Gavin George (34 tackles) is coming off a promising sophomore campaign.
I’m home, GMG 🦅💚!! All glory to God for blessing me with this opportunity. Thank you to my family for their unwavering support, and thank you to all the coaches who poured into me along the way. I’m excited for what’s ahead! #GMG@rohawksfootball@CoachTraun@MeanGreenFB… pic.twitter.com/Lf9tqTljqP

The Hawks know they’re in for a battle this fall, especially with a lack of numbers as one of the smaller 6A programs. Head coach Melvin Robinson has been preaching to his guys to just control what they can control as they look to settle in at the 6A level.
