REPORT: Dallas Cowboys OL Doug Free To Retire

July 7, 2016

One of the mainstays of the offensive line for the Dallas Cowboys may be set to call it a career. Per ESPN’s Todd Archer, Doug Free intends to retire after 10 seasons.

Free was a fourth-round draft pick of the Cowboys in 2007 and spent his entire career in Dallas. He emerged as one of the main leaders of an offensive line that was arguably the best offensive line in the league in 2016.

There had been some speculation that La’el Collins was going to take Free’s starting right tackle spot in 2017. However, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram at the NFL Combine that the job would remain with Free unless he decides to retire.

That said, it appears that Free has decided to call it a career after 124 games in 10 seasons.
