Foster Key Players and Storylines

An 8-24 record the past three seasons doesn’t jump out on paper, but give Foster credit for winning the games that matter. The Falcons have still managed to make the playoffs in two of the past three years.

However, this season brings a bigger challenge. Foster will now compete in District 23-6A alongside four Cy-Fair ISD schools and Waller.

Offensively, Foster can lean on its experienced backfield. Senior quarterback Cannon Volf (1,150 passing yards and 13 touchdowns) has the keys to the offense after playing in six games a year ago, while returning first team all-district running back Jordan Williams (394 rushing yards and three touchdowns) can carry the run game. Speedy receiver Jaylen Walker should be able to keep defenses on their toes.

6’2″, 280-pound senior Holden Holchak will be Foster’s anchor on the offensive line as he heads into his third year as the starter.

The Falcons also have plenty of strength on the defensive line. 6’2″, 250-pound defensive tackle Bishop Caldwell (46 tackles, six TFLs) can stuff the run game, while Tyson Denman (34 tackles, five TFLs) will be Foster’s threat off the edge. Behind them, Division I prospect KJ Keller (35 tackles, four INTs) patrols the secondary alongside reliable nickel Caden Bateman (48 tackles).

Foster has talent back in key positions, but District 23-6A will certainly test the Falcons. They’ll want to improve upon the 17.5 points per game they averaged offensively last season as they seek their third-straight playoff berth.
